Dark R. Reaper: Ow, my arms, stupid heavy Pasorus.
Karamus Ono: Ugh, my head.
Os: Boss, I think he’s waking up.
Karamus: Where am I?
Dark: You’re in my home abode, Mr. Ono. It’s nice to see that you’re awake. I was concerned as to what effect my staff might have on someone like you, but clearly you seem fine.
Karamus shakes his head, snapping his neck left and right.
Karamus: What do ya mean, someone like me? Now that ya mention it.
Karamus’ metal eye slinks closer to me, analyzing my figure.
I don’t move at all.
Karamus: You don’t seem familiar. You’re not Pasori. You’re not human. What are ye?
Dark: It doesn’t matter what I am. All that matters is, who, I am. What I’ve done. Frankly, all that really matters is anything that gives you more practical information than something like my race.
Karamus lets out a laughing cough from his stomach.
Karamus: True that lad. True that.
Dark: Besides. I’ll be the one asking the questions here Soulless.
Karamus: Soulless, I haven’t been called something like that since the Pasori Wars, and what exactly gives someone as scrawny as you permission to go around calling me something like that?
I laugh without even opening my mouth. I close my eyes and scratch my head.
Dark: Well for one Mr. Ono, you’re in Tartarus Chains right now.
Karamus pulls at the chains attaching him to the floor for awhile until finally he just stops and stares at me like a dog on a short leash staring at its human.
Dark: Second of all, this.
I roll up one of the gloves on my hand to show him a glowing black, purple, and white mark on my hand.
The Pasori immediately jumps back.
Karamus: Why you’re a—“
My eyes glow a deep dark red.
Dark: Say it and you’re dead.
Karamus does nothing more than nod.
Dark: Good. Now let us get on with the interview shall we.
The red in my eyes disappears, replaced by its regular earthy brown and black.
Karamus: You’re a monster.
Dark: Speaking of monsters, how do you really feel about your son, Mr. Ono?
Karamus swallows.
Karamus: He’s… He’s just a boy that’s lost his way. That’s all.
Dark: Oh really Karamus, because that’s not what I’ve heard. I hear that you treated the Alchemi-Pasori like second class citizens, even before the races separated.
Karamus thinks about it for awhile.
Karamus: They may have been second class, but at least then they weren’t enemies. Back then, at least there was hope that things could change, but now.
Dark: Now what? Things can’t change now that you’re on opposing sides.
I laugh.
Dark: After all, some of the best changes in the world come after wars Mr. Ono.
Karamus shakes his head.
Karamus: Not all wars my boy. Not all.
I look over Karamus for a short time.
Dark: Are you afraid of war Mr. Ono? Don’t forget there’s one right outside your doorstep and another on the horizon.
Karamus: Neither one has to come about if we don’t want it to.
I laugh, harder this time.
Dark: Then war will come to you like war came to Britain and America in World War II. The question is, are you ready?
Karamus: Well, it’d be ignorant of me to argue against such a master of the art as you.
My eyes light up for just a moment, just enough to remind him of the punishment that will occur if this continues.
Karamus: The answer is no. No, I’m not. I’m not yet willing to risk the lives of men in an effortless war that will take them nowhere.
Dark: Very well, Soulless, but don’t forget that war is a cycle and time is your only enemy.
I grab Cha and Os off the table, circle around Karamus, and put him back to sleep before he can say his next words.
Dark: And with that, we’re off to Timestream boys.
Cha: But sir, I still think it’s unlikely that he’s in Timestream right now.
Dark: Then we’ll just have to find him now won’t we?
Os: But master, you need to get your sleep tonight.
Dark: I’ll sleep later.
Cha: I don’t like what this is doing to his health.
