Ashes to Ashes
Dust to Dust
Ashes are not the same as the fire that spawned them
Does dust not hold the same value?
Ashes are born of light, of fire, of energy.
But the ashes are not the same as the fire that spawned them.
Ashes are cold
Exhausted of light
Of heat
Of energy
Yet are the ashes not the product of the flames?
Energy to plain matter
Matter to plain energy
But then there is dust.
Dust is born of the stone.
Stone that lacks heat, energy, or light.
Stone is Stone. Dust is part of stone. Dust is dust.
Yet does dust not hold its own intrinsic value?
Stone is cold, but it can be warmed.
Stone lacks light, but is it not born of the sun?
Stone lacks energy in itself, but if you throw a stone it can hurt.
The ancients say that Humans are made from dust
Yet Human’s stomachs create fires to make ashes
And Humans have learned to make fire,
To make light, to make energy, to make heat.
Never should one underestimate the power of stone.
Stone to stone
Stone to dust
Ashes to ashes
And dust to dust.
